Need 3-Phase Power?

One of the following converters can provide an easy solution!

Series I Static Phase Converter

Provides 3-phase power for a single motor. Light use only - motor cannot be loaded more than two-thirds of name plate rating. Easy starting loads only.

Price:

1/3 - 3/4 HP..............$105

1 - 2 HP....................$115

2 - 3 HP....................$125

3 - 5 HP....................$148

5 - 7.5 HP.................$178

10 HP.......................$270

Series II Static Phase Converter

Provides both start and run circuitry, providing more power than the Series I Converter. Medium duty use. May be used as a power panel if you are building your own rotary converter.  3-phase idle motor required.

Price:

1/3 - 3/4 HP.................$190

1 - 2 HP.......................$210

2 - 3 HP.......................$225

3 - 5 HP.......................$270

5- 7.5 HP.....................$320

10 HP..........................$490

Rotary Converter

Can operate several motors at once (e.g., whole shop). Motors will operate as though they had been connected to a solid 3-phase line.

Advantages to Using a Converter to Obtain 3-Phase Power

  • No line extension charges
  • No monthly minimum stand-by charges
  • Cheaper, more readily available motors
  • Lower electric bills due to more efficient use of energy

Warranty Information

  • One (1) year from date of purchase

Converter General Guidelines

Static Converters

  • Loads should not exceed two-thirds (2/3) of the motor name plate
  • 1200 and 1750 RPM motors will perform more efficiently than 3600 RPM motors
  • Motors should not be started frequently or under loaded conditions
  • Air compressors should be equipped with an un-loader valve to avoid starting under load and the motor pulley diameter should be reduced by
one-third(1/3) when using the static converter
  • There are some motors or machines hat will not operate on a Static Converter, especially 3600 RPM motors or hard-to-start loads. In this case,
you will need to add an idle motor or purchase a Rotary Converter instead.
  • It is advised that the Static Converter be wired temporarily to judge if the unit will perform satisfactorily (you don't want to go to too much work if
the converter is not going to work).
  • Do not order a larger Static Converter than is needed. It will not increase the horse power (HP) and it probably won't start the motor. The  HP must
fall within the HP range of the Static Converter.
Rotary Converters
  • Rotary Converters are sized according to the load; all loads are not the same. For example, a drill press is an easy-to-start load whereas a gear head
lathe is a hard-to-start load. They both may have a 5 HP motor but the lathe is a much harder to start therefore you would need a larger converter.
  • Generally speaking, the Rotary will run 3 -times its HP rating as long as the largest motor does not exceed its maximum rating.
